Monster Hunter Wilds on a Mac with a controller
The Monster Hunter Wilds layout is built into InputConfig, free on the Mac App Store. You don't have to make an account, there are no subscriptions, and nothing is locked. Optimized for Apple silicon.
On a Mac: No Mac version, and it is not in GeForce NOW's public list or Xbox Cloud Gaming's US library (checked September 2026). It streams to a Mac from a Windows PC you own. The stream normally passes a controller to the game's own scheme.
Yes, Monster Hunter Wilds plays on a Mac with a controller, streamed from a Windows PC you own. Wilds is a controller game that Capcom also wrote a keyboard scheme for, and this layout is that scheme on a pad, for a stream that misses yours. A stream's latency costs you a counter now and then. A hammer forgives it.
The layout, control by control
How the layout thinks
- Move and camera. The left stick walks on W, A, S and D. The right stick moves the mouse at speed 20 across and 14 up and down.
- Attack. Normal attack on the right trigger (left click), special on the left (right click).
- Face buttons. Dodge on the bottom (Space), draw and guard on the right (Ctrl), use item on the left (E), interact and carve on the top (F).
- Shoulders and clicks. Aim the slinger on the left bumper (middle click), sheathe on the right (B). Dash on the left stick click (Shift), focus camera on the right (Q).
- Bars and menus. The item bar scrolls on D-pad left and right, the ammo bar on up and down, with the arrow keys. The radial menu on Back (F1), menu on Start (Escape).
Dodge is the big button, because it is the one you press most.
Tune it
- Weapon-specific keys. The gunlance and bow want a key or two changed. The game's key list shows which.
- A buzz on the carve. Turn on Vibrate in the carve row's Options.
Check your weapon's keys once, and the layout fits it.
If the game sees the pad
Wilds is not in GeForce NOW's public list or Xbox Cloud Gaming's US library, so your own PC's stream is the route, and when it passes your pad, play on the game's own scheme with this preset off.
Monster Hunter Wilds controller support: controller or keyboard
Steam's store page lists full controller support for Monster Hunter Wilds, so the game was made to be played on a controller, menus included. A keyboard and mouse work as well, and the choice is yours. On a Mac, use the game's own controller support first when it sees your pad. This layout is for a pad it does not see, or for buttons it will not let you move.
From Steam's listing, checked in October 2026. Every game's listing is in Mac games with controller support.
If your controller is not working in Monster Hunter Wilds
When Monster Hunter Wilds does not react to your controller on a Mac, check these in order:
- Check that the Mac sees the controller. Open the gamepad tester and press a button. If nothing lights up there, the problem is the connection, and a controller that is connected but not working covers that first.
- Press a button after the stream has started. A stream only picks up a controller that is paired with the Mac, and a browser shows a controller to a page only after a button press. Start Monster Hunter Wilds, then press any button. Streaming from your own PC has its own checks, in how to stream PC games to a Mac with a controller.
- Play it from keys. If Monster Hunter Wilds still ignores the pad, activate this layout. It sends the keyboard and mouse controls Monster Hunter Wilds already reads. Turn the game's own controller option off while it runs, or a press can arrive twice. The layout works whether or not Monster Hunter Wilds ever sees the controller.
Get it in two clicks
- Open InputConfig and click Smart Preset Maker on the welcome screen.
- Search for Monster Hunter Wilds and pick it. The layout is created as a preset in your sidebar, named and ready.
- Press Activate. Every row can be changed afterwards: the editor's Scan button rebinds any control the moment you touch it.

Questions
Does Monster Hunter Wilds run on a Mac?
Monster Hunter Wilds does not run natively on a Mac. It streams from a Windows PC you own, and the stream usually passes a controller through.
Can I play Monster Hunter Wilds on an M1 Mac or a MacBook Air?
Yes, through a stream. Monster Hunter Wilds runs on the other end, on a cloud service or your own PC, so the Mac only plays the video and sends your input. An M1 MacBook Air streams it like any other Mac.
Does Monster Hunter Wilds run in CrossOver on a Mac?
I have not tested Monster Hunter Wilds in CrossOver. CodeWeavers keeps a compatibility list where players report how each Windows game runs. If it runs and the controller is not seen, this layout plays it from the keys and mouse.
