SoulCalibur VI on a Mac with a controller

Download on the Mac App StoreThe SoulCalibur VI layout is built into InputConfig, free on the Mac App Store. You don't have to make an account, there are no subscriptions, and nothing is locked. Optimized for Apple silicon.

On a Mac: No Mac version. It streams to a Mac from a Windows PC you own. The stream normally passes a controller to the game's native scheme. This layout starts from a Tekken-style template, so match its four attack rows to SoulCalibur's A, B, K and G.

Yes, SoulCalibur VI plays on a Mac with a controller, streamed from a Windows PC you own. This layout is for a stream that misses your pad. SoulCalibur is four buttons, A, B, K and G, and the layout has four face buttons, so the fit is natural once the keys match.

The layout, control by control

Click a control. Labels:

How the layout thinks

  • Move. The D-pad and the left stick both send the arrow keys. Use the stick for the 8-way run.
  • Four attacks. Square sends U, Triangle I, Cross J and Circle K. The notes use Tekken's numbering, 1 to 4, from the template.
  • Pairs. R1 sends U and I together, L1 J and K, and the left trigger I and K.
  • All four. The right trigger sends all four attack keys at once.
  • Dash and menus. The left stick click taps Right twice for a quick dash. Pause on Start (Escape), select on Back (Tab).

The dash row presses Right, so it dashes forward only while your fighter faces right. Guard on a face button is right, so I would not move it to a trigger.

Match the keys to SoulCalibur

  • Change the game. Set SoulCalibur's keyboard controls so A, B, K and G use U, I, J and K.
  • Or change the rows. Open each attack row's output menu and pick the key the game uses.

Then check the pair rows still press the pairs you want, since they send the same keys. Four rows, one minute, and the pairs follow.

Tune it

  • Soul Charge. Give a trigger row the keys of its button combination.
  • 8-way run. Use the stick, not the D-pad.

Run with the stick, block with a face button.

If the game sees the pad

SoulCalibur VI's own scheme is the better way to play when a stream passes your controller, so keep this preset off then.

SoulCalibur VI controller support: controller or keyboard

Steam's store page lists partial controller support for SoulCalibur VI: it plays on a controller, but some parts, such as a launcher, text entry or a menu, still expect a keyboard or a mouse. This layout sends keys and mouse movement from the pad, which can cover the parts the game's own support leaves out.

From Steam's listing, checked in October 2026. Every game's listing is in Mac games with controller support.

If your controller is not working in SoulCalibur VI

When SoulCalibur VI does not react to your controller on a Mac, check these in order:

  1. Check that the Mac sees the controller. Open the gamepad tester and press a button. If nothing lights up there, the problem is the connection, and a controller that is connected but not working covers that first.
  2. Pair the controller with the Mac first. A streaming app such as Steam Link, Moonlight or Parsec passes on only a controller the Mac already sees, so pair it before you start the stream, then press a button once SoulCalibur VI is running. Streaming PC games to a Mac with a controller has the checks for each app.
  3. Play it from keys. If SoulCalibur VI still ignores the pad, activate this layout. It sends the keyboard and mouse controls SoulCalibur VI already reads. Turn the game's own controller option off while it runs, or a press can arrive twice. The layout works whether or not SoulCalibur VI ever sees the controller.

Get it in two clicks

  1. Open InputConfig and click Smart Preset Maker on the welcome screen.
  2. Search for SoulCalibur VI and pick it. The layout is created as a preset in your sidebar, named and ready.
  3. Press Activate. Every row can be changed afterwards: the editor's Scan button rebinds any control the moment you touch it.

SoulCalibur VI controls: every button and the key it sends

The Sends column is SoulCalibur VI's default keyboard and mouse controls, as this layout expects them. If you changed a key in the game's settings, change the same row in InputConfig.

Questions

Does SoulCalibur VI run on a Mac?

SoulCalibur VI does not run natively on a Mac. It streams from a Windows PC you own, and the stream usually passes a controller through.

Can I play SoulCalibur VI on an M1 Mac or a MacBook Air?

Yes, through a stream. SoulCalibur VI runs on the other end, on your own PC, so the Mac only plays the video and sends your input. An M1 MacBook Air streams it like any other Mac.
