SnowRunner on a Mac with a controller
The SnowRunner layout is built into InputConfig, free on the Mac App Store. You don't have to make an account, there are no subscriptions, and nothing is locked. Optimized for Apple silicon.
On a Mac: Native on macOS through Steam, which lists a Mac version (macOS Sonoma or later, an M1 or newer recommended) with full controller support. Use the game's own controls when it sees your pad. This layout is for a pad it does not see. It starts from the Euro Truck template, so change three face button rows' outputs to SnowRunner's diff lock, all-wheel drive, and winch keys.
Yes, SnowRunner runs on a Mac: Steam lists a macOS version with full controller support, so plug the pad in and try the game's own scheme first. This layout is for a controller the game does not see, and it is already a truck: steer on the stick, pedals on the triggers, gears on the bumpers. What it lacks are three buttons Euro Truck does not have, the diff lock, the all-wheel drive and the winch.
The layout, control by control
How the layout thinks
- Drive. The left stick steers (A and D). The right trigger accelerates (W), the left trigger brakes (S).
- Gears. Shift up on the right bumper (Shift), down on the left (Option).
- Face buttons. Parking brake on the bottom (Space), horn on the right (H). The left button sends B and the top C, keys from the Euro Truck template.
- D-pad and clicks. Headlights on D-pad up (L). D-pad left and right send [ and ], D-pad down F, the left stick click K and the right P.
- Cameras and menus. Right stick left and right pick the interior and chase cameras (1 and 2), up and down free-look. Enter and exit on Start (E), the map on Back (M).
The truck drives on day one, and the off-road switches are the part left to finish.
Tune it
- The three off-road keys. Open the outputs of three face button rows and pick SnowRunner's diff lock, all-wheel drive and winch keys from its key list.
- Low gears. Add low and low plus as chord rows on the bumpers.
Check the template's keys against SnowRunner's own key list before the first mud.
If the game sees the pad
SnowRunner has full controller support and reads the stick and triggers in full, so use this layout only when the game ignores the pad.
SnowRunner controller support: controller or keyboard
Steam's store page lists full controller support for SnowRunner, so the game was made to be played on a controller, menus included. A keyboard and mouse work as well, and the choice is yours.
From Steam's listing, checked in October 2026. Every game's listing is in Mac games with controller support.
Get it in two clicks
- Open InputConfig and click Smart Preset Maker on the welcome screen.
- Search for SnowRunner and pick it. The layout is created as a preset in your sidebar, named and ready.
- Press Activate. Every row can be changed afterwards: the editor's Scan button rebinds any control the moment you touch it.
To check the controller itself first, the gamepad tester shows every button and stick live in your browser.
SnowRunner controls: every button and the key it sends

Questions
Does SnowRunner run on a Mac?
Yes. Steam lists a macOS version with full controller support. This layout is for a pad the game does not see.
Why is my controller not working in SnowRunner on Mac?
Check that the pad shows under Game Controllers in System Settings, then flip the game's Steam Input setting (Properties, Controller) and relaunch. If the game still ignores it, activate this layout and the game gets keyboard input from the pad.
