Satisfactory on a Mac with a controller

Download on the Mac App StoreThe Satisfactory layout is built into InputConfig, free on the Mac App Store. You don't have to make an account, there are no subscriptions, and nothing is locked. Optimized for Apple silicon.

On a Mac: No Mac version. It streams through GeForce NOW, which normally hands a controller to the game's own scheme, added at 1.0. This layout is for streams that do not see the pad.

You can play Satisfactory on a Mac with a controller through GeForce NOW, which passes your pad to the game's own scheme, added at 1.0. There is no Mac version, and the native scheme is the way to play.

This layout is the fallback for a stream that does not see the controller. It is a first-person factory, so it is the shooter layout with the triggers doing build and dismantle instead of fire and aim.

The layout, control by control

Click a control. Labels:

How the layout thinks

  • Move and look. The sticks. Sprint is the left stick click.
  • Build and dismantle. The right trigger builds and fires the tools. The left trigger dismantles.
  • Face buttons. Jump, crouch, R to rotate, and E.
  • Build menu. Q on the left bumper.
  • Hotbar and menus. Hotbar 1 to 3 on the D-pad, Tab for the inventory on Create, the map on the Home button, Escape on Options.

Build on one trigger and dismantle on the other, like fire and aim.

Tune it to your factory

  • More hotbar. The game has ten hotbars of ten. The scroll wheel on the bumpers cycles slots, and a chord on the D-pad reaches 4 to 7.
  • Fine rotation. It is Control plus scroll in the game. Use a chord with Scroll outputs.
  • Nudge. H locks a hologram and the arrow keys nudge it. Add a row for H and put the arrows on a D-pad chord.
  • Zipline and jetpack. It uses the same jump key, so there is nothing to add.

When the stream does see the pad, turn the preset off, so a press does one thing. Nudge on a chord is what makes tidy factories possible from a pad.

Satisfactory controller support: controller or keyboard

Steam's store page lists partial controller support for Satisfactory: it plays on a controller, but some parts, such as a launcher, text entry or a menu, still expect a keyboard or a mouse. This layout sends keys and mouse movement from the pad, which can cover the parts the game's own support leaves out.

From Steam's listing, checked in October 2026. Every game's listing is in Mac games with controller support.

If your controller is not working in Satisfactory

When Satisfactory does not react to your controller on a Mac, check these in order:

  1. Check that the Mac sees the controller. Open the gamepad tester and press a button. If nothing lights up there, the problem is the connection, and a controller that is connected but not working covers that first.
  2. Press a button after the stream has started. A stream only picks up a controller that is paired with the Mac, and a browser shows a controller to a page only after a button press. Start Satisfactory, then press any button.
  3. Play it from keys. If Satisfactory still ignores the pad, activate this layout. It sends the keyboard and mouse controls Satisfactory already reads. Turn the game's own controller option off while it runs, or a press can arrive twice. The layout works whether or not Satisfactory ever sees the controller.

Get it in two clicks

  1. Open InputConfig and click Smart Preset Maker on the welcome screen.
  2. Search for Satisfactory and pick it. The layout is created as a preset in your sidebar, named and ready.
  3. Press Activate. Every row can be changed afterwards: the editor's Scan button rebinds any control the moment you touch it.

Satisfactory controls: every button and the key it sends

The Sends column is Satisfactory's default keyboard and mouse controls, as this layout expects them. If you changed a key in the game's settings, change the same row in InputConfig.

Questions

Does Satisfactory run on a Mac?

Satisfactory does not run natively on a Mac. GeForce NOW streams it with a controller passed through. This layout covers streams that do not see the pad.

Can I play Satisfactory on an M1 Mac or a MacBook Air?

Yes, through a stream. Satisfactory runs on the other end, on a cloud service, so the Mac only plays the video and sends your input. An M1 MacBook Air streams it like any other Mac.
