R.E.P.O. on a Mac with a controller
The R.E.P.O. layout is built into InputConfig, free on the Mac App Store. You don't have to make an account, there are no subscriptions, and nothing is locked. Optimized for Apple silicon.
On a Mac: No Mac version: Steam lists Windows only. It streams to a Mac from a Windows PC you own. R.E.P.O. has no controller support of its own, so a pad passed through the stream does nothing in the game. This layout sends the keyboard and mouse it reads.
Yes, R.E.P.O. plays on a Mac with a controller, streamed from a Windows PC you own, but only with a layout like this one: the game has no controller support of its own. It is carrying fragile things through a haunted house with friends, and you grab things constantly, so the grab is the right trigger held. Six friends and a stream is fine. The physics are the comedy, not the challenge.
The layout, control by control
How the layout thinks
- Move and look. The left stick walks on W, A, S and D. The right stick moves the mouse at speed 20 across and 14 up and down, and turns a held object.
- Grab and scan. The right trigger grabs and uses (left click), the left trigger opens the scanner (right click).
- Face buttons. Jump on the bottom (Space), crouch on the right (Ctrl), interact on the left (E), drop on the top (G), the one you will regret.
- Inventory. Slot 1 on the left bumper, slot 2 on Back, slots 3 and 4 on D-pad up and down. D-pad left and right scroll through slots. The item special on the right bumper (Q).
- Sprint and menu. Sprint on the left stick click (Shift), because something is always chasing you. Menu on Start (Escape).
Hold the right trigger to carry, and let go to set it down.
Tune it
- Push to talk. Proximity voice is the game. Put it on a chord row, or on the empty right stick click.
- Gentle rotation. Set Curve to Smooth on the four right-stick rows, so a held object turns slowly on small pushes.
A Smooth curve on the right stick keeps the expensive vase in one piece.
Check that it works
R.E.P.O. has no controller support, so a pad passed through the stream does nothing, and nothing doubles.
- You: Start the stream, then press Activate on this preset.
- InputConfig: Sends the keys and clicks in the table, which the stream carries to the game.
- Check: Push the left stick and you walk. Hold the right trigger on an object and you carry it.
If the trigger carries, the layout is working.
R.E.P.O. controller support: controller or keyboard
Steam's store page lists no controller support for R.E.P.O., so it was made for a keyboard and mouse, and that is how it expects to be played. A controller still works: this layout sends the game's keys and mouse movement from the pad, so to the game you are simply typing and pointing.
From Steam's listing, checked in October 2026. Every game's listing is in Mac games with controller support.
If your controller is not working in R.E.P.O.
When R.E.P.O. does not react to your controller on a Mac, check these in order:
- Check that the Mac sees the controller. Open the gamepad tester and press a button. If nothing lights up there, the problem is the connection, and a controller that is connected but not working covers that first.
- Pair the controller with the Mac first. A streaming app such as Steam Link, Moonlight or Parsec passes on only a controller the Mac already sees, so pair it before you start the stream, then press a button once R.E.P.O. is running. Streaming PC games to a Mac with a controller has the checks for each app.
- Stop looking for a setting. R.E.P.O. reads the keyboard and mouse here, so no option makes it see a pad. Activate this layout, and the controller sends the keys and mouse movement R.E.P.O. already reads. The layout works without R.E.P.O. ever seeing the controller.
Get it in two clicks
- Open InputConfig and click Smart Preset Maker on the welcome screen.
- Search for R.E.P.O. and pick it. The layout is created as a preset in your sidebar, named and ready.
- Press Activate. Every row can be changed afterwards: the editor's Scan button rebinds any control the moment you touch it.
R.E.P.O. controls: every button and the key it sends
The Sends column is R.E.P.O.'s default keyboard and mouse controls, as this layout expects them. If you changed a key in the game's settings, change the same row in InputConfig.

Questions
Does R.E.P.O. run on a Mac?
R.E.P.O. does not run natively on a Mac. It streams from a Windows PC you own. It has no controller support, so this layout is how a pad plays it.
Does R.E.P.O. have controller support?
No. Steam lists no controller support for R.E.P.O., so the game only reads a keyboard and mouse. This layout turns a controller into that keyboard and mouse on the Mac, and the stream carries the keys to the game.
Can I play R.E.P.O. on an M1 Mac or a MacBook Air?
Yes, through a stream. R.E.P.O. runs on the other end, on your own PC, so the Mac only plays the video and sends your input. An M1 MacBook Air streams it like any other Mac.
