Abiotic Factor on a Mac with a controller

Download on the Mac App StoreThe Abiotic Factor layout is built into InputConfig, free on the Mac App Store. You don't have to make an account, there are no subscriptions, and nothing is locked. Optimized for Apple silicon.

On a Mac: No Mac version. Xbox Cloud Gaming carries it (checked September 2026) and plays in a Mac browser, and it also streams from a Windows PC you own. The game has full controller support, so a stream that passes your pad needs nothing else.

Yes, Abiotic Factor plays on a Mac with a controller, through Xbox Cloud Gaming in a browser or a stream from a Windows PC. The game has full controller support, so a stream that passes your pad needs nothing else. This layout is for the stream that does not, and the survival layout fits a Half-Life lab: the tool on the right trigger, four hotbar slots on the D-pad, the flashlight on a bumper because the lab goes dark.

The layout, control by control

Click a control. Labels:

How the layout thinks

  • Move and look. The left stick walks on W, A, S and D. The right stick moves the mouse at speed 20 across and 14 up and down.
  • Use. The right trigger fires or uses (left click), the left trigger aims (right click).
  • Face buttons. Jump on the bottom (Space), duck on the right (Ctrl), reload on the left (R), use on the top (E).
  • Shoulders. Flashlight on the right bumper (F). The left bumper repeats reload (R).
  • Hotbar and menus. Hotbar 1 to 4 on the D-pad. Sprint on the left stick click (Shift), inventory on Back (Tab), menu on Start (Escape).

The flashlight is one bumper, because the lab goes dark at the worst moment.

Tune it

  • A slow pointer for crafting. Duplicate the four right-stick rows, set While also holding to a spare button on the copies, and give them a low speed.
  • Slots 5 to 8. Add chord rows on the D-pad. Clear the left bumper's output first, since it only repeats reload, and use it as the held button.

Crafting is pointer work, and there is a lot of it.

If the game sees the pad

Abiotic Factor lets you remap the pad itself, so this layout is only for the times the stream hides it.

Abiotic Factor controller support: controller or keyboard

Steam's store page lists full controller support for Abiotic Factor, so the game was made to be played on a controller, menus included. A keyboard and mouse work as well, and the choice is yours. On a Mac, use the game's own controller support first when it sees your pad. This layout is for a pad it does not see, or for buttons it will not let you move.

From Steam's listing, checked in October 2026. Every game's listing is in Mac games with controller support.

If your controller is not working in Abiotic Factor

When Abiotic Factor does not react to your controller on a Mac, check these in order:

  1. Check that the Mac sees the controller. Open the gamepad tester and press a button. If nothing lights up there, the problem is the connection, and a controller that is connected but not working covers that first.
  2. Press a button after the stream has started. A stream only picks up a controller that is paired with the Mac, and a browser shows a controller to a page only after a button press. Start Abiotic Factor, then press any button. Streaming from your own PC has its own checks, in how to stream PC games to a Mac with a controller.
  3. Play it from keys. If Abiotic Factor still ignores the pad, activate this layout. It sends the keyboard and mouse controls Abiotic Factor already reads. Turn the game's own controller option off while it runs, or a press can arrive twice. The layout works whether or not Abiotic Factor ever sees the controller.

Get it in two clicks

  1. Open InputConfig and click Smart Preset Maker on the welcome screen.
  2. Search for Abiotic Factor and pick it. The layout is created as a preset in your sidebar, named and ready.
  3. Press Activate. Every row can be changed afterwards: the editor's Scan button rebinds any control the moment you touch it.

Abiotic Factor controls: every button and the key it sends

The Sends column is Abiotic Factor's default keyboard and mouse controls, as this layout expects them. If you changed a key in the game's settings, change the same row in InputConfig.

Questions

Does Abiotic Factor run on a Mac?

Abiotic Factor does not run natively on a Mac. Xbox Cloud Gaming carries it in a Mac browser, and it also streams from a Windows PC you own.

Does Abiotic Factor have controller support?

Yes. Steam lists full controller support, and the game lets you remap the pad. On a Mac, play it through Xbox Cloud Gaming or a stream from your own PC and use the game's own scheme. This layout is for the times the stream does not see your controller.

Can I play Abiotic Factor on an M1 Mac or a MacBook Air?

Yes, through a stream. Abiotic Factor runs on the other end, on a cloud service or your own PC, so the Mac only plays the video and sends your input. An M1 MacBook Air streams it like any other Mac.
