V Rising on a Mac with a controller
The V Rising layout is built into InputConfig, free on the Mac App Store. You don't have to make an account, there are no subscriptions, and nothing is locked. Optimized for Apple silicon.
On a Mac: No Mac version. It runs on Apple silicon through CrossOver or the Game Porting Toolkit. The game has gamepad support since 1.0, but a wrapper often does not pass the pad.
Yes, V Rising plays on a Mac with a controller, through a wrapper. It is a top-down game, so the right stick is an aim cursor rather than a camera, and the layout plays like a twin-stick action RPG: move with the left stick, point with the right, skills on the fingers. The game has its own pad support now. In a wrapper on a Mac that support is the part that often does not arrive, which is why this layout exists.
The layout, control by control
How the layout thinks
- Move and aim. The left stick moves and the right stick nudges the aim cursor, which is the mouse.
- Attack and cast. The right trigger is the primary attack and the left trigger spell slot 1 (R). Spell slot 2 (C) is the top face button, the weapon skills Q and E are the bumpers, and the ultimate (T) is on Options.
- Move fast. The travel skill and dodge (Space) are the bottom face button. The right face button holds Left Shift, the power modifier and the cliff jump.
- Interact. Interact and pick up (F) is the left face button.
- Panels. D-pad up opens the character panel (Tab), right the map (M), and down the build menu (B). Hold D-pad left to rotate the camera. Escape is on Create.
The right stick points, it does not turn the camera, so aim where you want the spell to land.
Tune it
- Cursor speed. The aim cursor runs at Speed 16. Raise it to about 18 with the Aggressive curve for fast flicks to a target.
- Vampire powers. They are Shift plus a key. The right face button holds Shift for as long as you hold it, so keep it down and press the skill.
- Escape and the ultimate. Escape is on Create and the ultimate on Options. Swap them with Scan if your hands expect a menu on Options.
A faster cursor with the Aggressive curve is what makes top-down aiming feel quick.
If the wrapper passes your controller
If the game sees the pad on its own, use its native scheme and leave this preset off, since both at once make every press land twice. Using a controller with CrossOver games covers the wrapper side. Try the pad in the game before anything else, and switch to this layout only if it stays silent.
V Rising controller support: controller or keyboard
Steam's store page lists partial controller support for V Rising: it plays on a controller, but some parts, such as a launcher, text entry or a menu, still expect a keyboard or a mouse. This layout sends keys and mouse movement from the pad, which can cover the parts the game's own support leaves out.
From Steam's listing, checked in October 2026. Every game's listing is in Mac games with controller support.
If your controller is not working in V Rising
When V Rising does not react to your controller on a Mac, check these in order:
- Check that the Mac sees the controller. Open the gamepad tester and press a button. If nothing lights up there, the problem is the connection, and a controller that is connected but not working covers that first.
- Expect less inside a wrapper. In CrossOver or the Game Porting Toolkit, Wine passes a controller to V Rising only some of the time, and the keyboard and mouse get through every time. Using a controller with CrossOver games has the checks.
- Play it from keys. If V Rising still ignores the pad, activate this layout. It sends the keyboard and mouse controls V Rising already reads. Turn the game's own controller option off while it runs, or a press can arrive twice. The layout works whether or not V Rising ever sees the controller.
Get it in two clicks
- Open InputConfig and click Smart Preset Maker on the welcome screen.
- Search for V Rising and pick it. The layout is created as a preset in your sidebar, named and ready.
- Press Activate. Every row can be changed afterwards: the editor's Scan button rebinds any control the moment you touch it.
V Rising controls: every button and the key it sends
The Sends column is V Rising's default keyboard and mouse controls, as this layout expects them. If you changed a key in the game's settings, change the same row in InputConfig.

Questions
Does V Rising run on a Mac?
V Rising does not run natively on a Mac. CrossOver and the Game Porting Toolkit run it. This layout is for wrappers that do not pass the controller.
Can I play V Rising on an M1 Mac or a MacBook Air?
V Rising has no Mac version, so it runs through a wrapper such as CrossOver or the Game Porting Toolkit, and how well depends on the Mac's chip and memory. I have not tested it on each Mac.
