Trepang2 on a Mac with a controller
The Trepang2 layout is built into InputConfig, free on the Mac App Store. You don't have to make an account, there are no subscriptions, and nothing is locked. Optimized for Apple silicon.
On a Mac: No Mac version. It streams to a Mac from a Windows PC you own. The stream normally passes a controller to the game's native scheme. It starts from the DOOM template, and Trepang2's focus and cloak are its own keys, so give the two bumper rows new outputs.
Yes, Trepang2 plays on a Mac with a controller, streamed from a Windows PC you own. It is F.E.A.R. with the volume up, and the slow-mo is what makes it a stream-friendly fast shooter: with focus on a bumper, everything slows enough that latency stops mattering. This layout starts from the DOOM template, which gets the rest right.
The layout, control by control
How the layout thinks
- Move and look. The left stick walks on W, A, S and D. The right stick moves the mouse at speed 22 across and 16 up and down.
- Shoot. The right trigger fires, the left trigger is the alternate fire (right click).
- Face buttons. Jump on the bottom (Space), the DOOM equipment throw on the right (Ctrl), melee on the left (E), switch equipment on the top (G).
- DOOM leftovers. The left bumper sends R and the right V, DOOM's flame belch and crucible. Dash on the left stick click (Shift).
- Weapons and menu. Four weapons on the D-pad (1 to 4). Menu on Start (Escape).
Fire, dash and four weapons work as they stand, but focus and cloak still need their keys.
Tune it
- Focus and cloak. Set the left bumper (flame belch) to focus and the right bumper (crucible) to the cloak.
- Grab. Put the human-shield grab on a chord row with melee.
Focus on a bumper is the change that makes a stream feel fast enough.
If the game sees the pad
In Trepang2, try the stick with the preset off before anything else.
Trepang2 controller support: controller or keyboard
Steam's store page lists full controller support for Trepang2, so the game was made to be played on a controller, menus included. A keyboard and mouse work as well, and the choice is yours. On a Mac, use the game's own controller support first when it sees your pad. This layout is for a pad it does not see, or for buttons it will not let you move.
From Steam's listing, checked in October 2026. Every game's listing is in Mac games with controller support.
If your controller is not working in Trepang2
When Trepang2 does not react to your controller on a Mac, check these in order:
- Check that the Mac sees the controller. Open the gamepad tester and press a button. If nothing lights up there, the problem is the connection, and a controller that is connected but not working covers that first.
- Pair the controller with the Mac first. A streaming app such as Steam Link, Moonlight or Parsec passes on only a controller the Mac already sees, so pair it before you start the stream, then press a button once Trepang2 is running. Streaming PC games to a Mac with a controller has the checks for each app.
- Play it from keys. If Trepang2 still ignores the pad, activate this layout. It sends the keyboard and mouse controls Trepang2 already reads. Turn the game's own controller option off while it runs, or a press can arrive twice. The layout works whether or not Trepang2 ever sees the controller.
Get it in two clicks
- Open InputConfig and click Smart Preset Maker on the welcome screen.
- Search for Trepang2 and pick it. The layout is created as a preset in your sidebar, named and ready.
- Press Activate. Every row can be changed afterwards: the editor's Scan button rebinds any control the moment you touch it.
Trepang2 controls: every button and the key it sends
The Sends column is Trepang2's default keyboard and mouse controls, as this layout expects them. If you changed a key in the game's settings, change the same row in InputConfig.

Questions
Does Trepang2 run on a Mac?
Trepang2 does not run natively on a Mac. It streams from a Windows PC you own, and the stream usually passes a controller through.
Can I play Trepang2 on an M1 Mac or a MacBook Air?
Yes, through a stream. Trepang2 runs on the other end, on your own PC, so the Mac only plays the video and sends your input. An M1 MacBook Air streams it like any other Mac.
