The Crew 2 on a Mac with a controller

Download on the Mac App StoreThe Crew 2 layout is built into InputConfig, free on the Mac App Store. You don't have to make an account, there are no subscriptions, and nothing is locked. Optimized for Apple silicon.

On a Mac: No Mac version. It streams to a Mac from a Windows PC you own. The stream normally passes a controller to the game's native scheme.

Yes, The Crew 2 plays on a Mac with a controller, streamed from a Windows PC you own. This layout is for a stream that misses your pad. It shares its rows with Motorfest, the arcade racer's layout: handbrake on the big button, pedals on the triggers, gears on the bumpers, and nitro next to the handbrake after one change.

The layout, control by control

Click a control. Labels:

How the layout thinks

  • Steer and drive. The left stick steers (A and D). The right trigger accelerates (W), the left trigger brakes and reverses (S).
  • Face buttons. Handbrake on the bottom (Space), clutch on the right (Shift), horn on the left (H), and the top button sends R, labeled rewind.
  • Gears. Shift up on the right bumper (E), down on the left (Q).
  • D-pad. The map on up (M), the camera on down (Tab), the assist on right (C).
  • Menus. Pause on Back (Escape), confirm on Start (Return).

The Fast Fav vehicle swap is worth a stick click, because it is the best thing in the game.

Tune it

  • Nitro. Set the right face button's output, the clutch row, to The Crew 2's nitro key.
  • Fast Fav. Both stick clicks are empty. Put the swap key on one.
  • Boats and planes. The left stick only steers left and right. A plane needs its up and down too, so add two rows with the game's pitch keys.

Nitro and Fast Fav are the two rows to add first.

If the game sees the pad

The Crew 2's own scheme steers by how far you push, so use it with this preset off whenever the stream passes your pad.

The Crew 2 controller support: controller or keyboard

Steam's store page lists partial controller support for The Crew 2: it plays on a controller, but some parts, such as a launcher, text entry or a menu, still expect a keyboard or a mouse. This layout sends keys and mouse movement from the pad, which can cover the parts the game's own support leaves out.

From Steam's listing, checked in October 2026. Every game's listing is in Mac games with controller support.

If your controller is not working in The Crew 2

When The Crew 2 does not react to your controller on a Mac, check these in order:

  1. Check that the Mac sees the controller. Open the gamepad tester and press a button. If nothing lights up there, the problem is the connection, and a controller that is connected but not working covers that first.
  2. Pair the controller with the Mac first. A streaming app such as Steam Link, Moonlight or Parsec passes on only a controller the Mac already sees, so pair it before you start the stream, then press a button once The Crew 2 is running. Streaming PC games to a Mac with a controller has the checks for each app.
  3. Play it from keys. If The Crew 2 still ignores the pad, activate this layout. It sends the keyboard and mouse controls The Crew 2 already reads. Turn the game's own controller option off while it runs, or a press can arrive twice. The layout works whether or not The Crew 2 ever sees the controller.

Get it in two clicks

  1. Open InputConfig and click Smart Preset Maker on the welcome screen.
  2. Search for The Crew 2 and pick it. The layout is created as a preset in your sidebar, named and ready.
  3. Press Activate. Every row can be changed afterwards: the editor's Scan button rebinds any control the moment you touch it.

The Crew 2 controls: every button and the key it sends

The Sends column is The Crew 2's default keyboard and mouse controls, as this layout expects them. If you changed a key in the game's settings, change the same row in InputConfig.

Questions

Does The Crew 2 run on a Mac?

The Crew 2 does not run natively on a Mac. It streams from a Windows PC you own, and the stream usually passes a controller through.

Can I play The Crew 2 on an M1 Mac or a MacBook Air?

Yes, through a stream. The Crew 2 runs on the other end, on your own PC, so the Mac only plays the video and sends your input. An M1 MacBook Air streams it like any other Mac.

Does The Crew 2 run in CrossOver on a Mac?

I have not tested The Crew 2 in CrossOver. CodeWeavers keeps a compatibility list where players report how each Windows game runs. If it runs and the controller is not seen, this layout plays it from the keys and mouse.
