Persona 5 Royal on a Mac with a controller
The Persona 5 Royal layout is built into InputConfig, free on the Mac App Store. You don't have to make an account, there are no subscriptions, and nothing is locked. Optimized for Apple silicon.
On a Mac: No Mac version. Steam lists it for Windows only. Xbox Cloud Gaming carries it in the US and reads a controller directly, and a stream from a Windows PC you own normally passes the pad too.
Yes, Persona 5 Royal plays on a Mac with a controller, through Xbox Cloud Gaming or a stream from your own PC. When a PC stream misses the pad, this layout plays it. Persona is menus and a dash, and both are easy from a pad. Turn-based combat means latency never costs you a fight, which makes this one of the better games to stream.
The layout, control by control
How the layout thinks
- Move. The left stick moves, and the D-pad moves through menus with the arrow keys.
- Camera. The right stick turns the camera with the game's camera keys (J, L, I and K). The top face button resets it (R), and the stick clicks zoom out (X) and in (Z).
- Menus. Confirm (E) is the bottom face button and cancel (C) the right. The menu (Tab) is on Options and the map (M) on Create.
- Infiltrate. Third Eye (Ctrl) is the left face button, dash (Shift) the right bumper, and page left (Q) the left bumper.
Confirm and cancel are the two buttons every menu uses, so the calendar flows by.
Tune it
- Page right. Add a row for it on a chord or the touchpad press.
- Skip and auto. Put their keys on chords, for the dialogue you have read before.
Skip on a chord is a gift on a second playthrough.
If the stream passes your controller
Xbox Cloud Gaming reads the pad directly, and a PC stream usually passes it. Either way, keep this preset off when the game sees your controller, or every press lands twice. If confirm works with the preset off, the game has your pad, and its own scheme is the one to use.
Persona 5 Royal controller support: controller or keyboard
Steam's store page lists full controller support for Persona 5 Royal, so the game was made to be played on a controller, menus included. A keyboard and mouse work as well, and the choice is yours. On a Mac, use the game's own controller support first when it sees your pad. This layout is for a pad it does not see, or for buttons it will not let you move.
From Steam's listing, checked in October 2026. Every game's listing is in Mac games with controller support.
If your controller is not working in Persona 5 Royal
When Persona 5 Royal does not react to your controller on a Mac, check these in order:
- Check that the Mac sees the controller. Open the gamepad tester and press a button. If nothing lights up there, the problem is the connection, and a controller that is connected but not working covers that first.
- Press a button after the stream has started. A stream only picks up a controller that is paired with the Mac, and a browser shows a controller to a page only after a button press. Start Persona 5 Royal, then press any button. Streaming from your own PC has its own checks, in how to stream PC games to a Mac with a controller.
- Play it from keys. If Persona 5 Royal still ignores the pad, activate this layout. It sends the keyboard and mouse controls Persona 5 Royal already reads. Turn the game's own controller option off while it runs, or a press can arrive twice. The layout works whether or not Persona 5 Royal ever sees the controller.
Get it in two clicks
- Open InputConfig and click Smart Preset Maker on the welcome screen.
- Search for Persona 5 Royal and pick it. The layout is created as a preset in your sidebar, named and ready.
- Press Activate. Every row can be changed afterwards: the editor's Scan button rebinds any control the moment you touch it.
Persona 5 Royal controls: every button and the key it sends
The Sends column is Persona 5 Royal's default keyboard and mouse controls, as this layout expects them. If you changed a key in the game's settings, change the same row in InputConfig.

Questions
Does Persona 5 Royal run on a Mac?
Persona 5 Royal does not run natively on a Mac. Xbox Cloud Gaming streams it and reads the controller, and a Windows PC you own can stream it.
Can I play Persona 5 Royal on an M1 Mac or a MacBook Air?
Yes, through a stream. Persona 5 Royal runs on the other end, on a cloud service or your own PC, so the Mac only plays the video and sends your input. An M1 MacBook Air streams it like any other Mac.
Does Persona 5 Royal run in CrossOver on a Mac?
I have not tested Persona 5 Royal in CrossOver. CodeWeavers keeps a compatibility list where players report how each Windows game runs. If it runs and the controller is not seen, this layout plays it from the keys and mouse.
