The layout, control by control
How the layout thinks
- Move and camera. The left stick walks on W, A, S and D. The right stick moves the mouse at speed 18.
- Attack. Melee on the left face button (left click), the gun row on the top (right click), jump on the bottom (Space). The right face button scrolls the wheel, labeled style.
- Template triggers. The right trigger holds Shift, labeled lock-on. The left trigger sends F, labeled special action.
- Shoulders and clicks. Dodge on the left bumper (Ctrl plus Space). The right bumper sends G, labeled power mode. Break away on the left stick click (B), switch target on the right (Ctrl).
- D-pad and menus. Reset camera on up (Option), cycle weapon on left (X), cycle gun on right (C). Taunt on Back (R), pause on Start (Escape).
The attacks and the jump are right, and the triggers and a bumper are waiting for Ninja Gaiden's keys.
Tune it
- Block, shuriken and ninpo. Set the right trigger to block, the left trigger to the shuriken, and the right bumper to ninpo.
- Weapon swap. A fourth change, on the style row.
- Difficulty. Pick Acolyte on a stream. The game is hard enough at zero latency.

If the game sees the pad
Xbox Cloud Gaming normally passes your controller to Ninja Gaiden 2 Black's own scheme, the better way to play something this fast, so keep this preset off then.
Ninja Gaiden 2 Black controller support: controller or keyboard
Steam's store page lists full controller support for Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, so the game was made to be played on a controller, menus included. A keyboard and mouse work as well, and the choice is yours. On a Mac, use the game's own controller support first when it sees your pad.
