Racing Game preset

Download on the Mac App StoreThis preset ships inside InputConfig, free on the Mac App Store. You don't have to make an account, there are no subscriptions, and nothing is locked. Optimized for Apple silicon.

This is a two-handed driving layout for games that steer from the keyboard, with left and right on the stick, throttle and brake on the analog triggers so pressure matters, and the extras on the face buttons. For driving from a single joystick, see one-stick driving.

Left stick steers, RT accelerate, LT brake, face buttons handbrake/shift.

Where it is in the app

16 rows. Button names are the Xbox / PlayStation pair the editor shows; a Switch Pro Controller fires by position. Options are the row settings that differ from the defaults.

Notes

  • Partial throttle. An analog trigger bound to a key pulses the key in proportion to the pull, which most games read as partial throttle.
  • Analog keyboard options. If a game has one, turn it off so the pulses arrive as plain key presses.
  • One hand. The one-stick driving guide is the alternative when only one stick is reachable.

Pressure on the triggers matters here, so squeeze rather than press.

Download

To add one, drop the file on InputConfig's Dock icon, or see importing a preset. It arrives inactive, and any launch target in it is cleared.
