Assetto Corsa Competizione on a Mac with a controller
The Assetto Corsa Competizione layout is built into InputConfig, free on the Mac App Store. You don't have to make an account, there are no subscriptions, and nothing is locked. Optimized for Apple silicon.
On a Mac: No Mac version. It runs on Apple silicon through CrossOver or the Game Porting Toolkit, and the game's own gamepad support often does not survive the wrapper.
Yes, Assetto Corsa Competizione can be driven on a Mac with a controller, through a wrapper and this layout. Use a wheel if you have one and the game sees it. A GT sim on a keyboard is a sim on an on-off wheel, and this layout does what it can: steering on the stick, throttle and brake on the triggers, sequential shifts on the bumpers.
The layout, control by control
How the layout thinks
- Drive. The left stick steers with ACC's comma and period keys. The right trigger is the throttle (A) and the left trigger the brake (Z).
- Gears. The right bumper shifts up (Space) and the left down (Left Alt).
- Start the car. The bottom face button engages the starter (S), and the right stick click runs the ignition sequence (Shift I). The left stick click is the pit limiter (Alt L).
- Lights. The right face button cycles the light stages (L), the left flashes the high beams (Shift L), and the top toggles the rain lights (Ctrl L).
- Cockpit. The right stick looks around and D-pad left and right glance. D-pad up changes the camera (F2) and down opens the HUD page (F1). Back cycles the display pages (F), and Options pauses.
The pit limiter is a stick click, so you never miss it at pit entry.
Tune it
- Steering. Raise the deadzone on the steer rows. There is no substitute for a wheel here.
- Camera. Put the other camera keys on chords.
A wheel the game can see beats any key layout, so think of this as the fallback.
What keys cannot do
The steering rows send comma and period, which are on or off, so a small push and a full push turn the same amount. If the wrapper passes your pad or wheel to the game, use that and keep this preset off, or every press lands twice. Using a controller with CrossOver games covers the wrapper side. Analog steering needs the game to see the controller.
Assetto Corsa Competizione controller support: controller or keyboard
Steam's store page lists partial controller support for Assetto Corsa Competizione: it plays on a controller, but some parts, such as a launcher, text entry or a menu, still expect a keyboard or a mouse. This layout sends keys and mouse movement from the pad, which can cover the parts the game's own support leaves out.

If your controller is not working in Assetto Corsa Competizione
When Assetto Corsa Competizione does not react to your controller on a Mac, check these in order:
- Check that the Mac sees the controller. Open the gamepad tester and press a button. If nothing lights up there, the problem is the connection, and a controller that is connected but not working covers that first.
- Expect less inside a wrapper. In CrossOver or the Game Porting Toolkit, Wine passes a controller to Assetto Corsa Competizione only some of the time, and the keyboard and mouse get through every time. Using a controller with CrossOver games has the checks.
- Play it from keys. If Assetto Corsa Competizione still ignores the pad, activate this layout. It sends the keyboard and mouse controls Assetto Corsa Competizione already reads. Turn the game's own controller option off while it runs, or a press can arrive twice. The layout works whether or not Assetto Corsa Competizione ever sees the controller.
Get it in two clicks
- Open InputConfig and click Smart Preset Maker on the welcome screen.
- Search for Assetto Corsa Competizione and pick it. The layout is created as a preset in your sidebar, named and ready.
- Press Activate. Every row can be changed afterwards: the editor's Scan button rebinds any control the moment you touch it.

Assetto Corsa Competizione has no Mac version, so it runs through a wrapper such as CrossOver or the Game Porting Toolkit, and how well depends on the Mac's chip and memory. I have not tested it on each Mac.
