Armored Core VI on a Mac with a controller
The Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon layout is built into InputConfig, free on the Mac App Store. You don't have to make an account, there are no subscriptions, and nothing is locked. Optimized for Apple silicon.
On a Mac: No Mac version. It streams from a cloud service that carries it or a Windows PC you own, and the stream normally passes a controller.
Yes, Armored Core VI plays on a Mac with a controller, as a stream. When the stream misses your pad, this layout plays the keyboard game from it. Four weapons, four fingers: the arm weapons on the bumpers, the shoulder weapons on the triggers, so a full alpha strike is every finger at once.
The layout, control by control
How the layout thinks
- Move and aim. The left stick moves and the right stick aims.
- Four weapons. The right bumper fires the right-arm weapon (right click) and the left bumper the left-arm one (left click). The right trigger fires the right shoulder weapon (E) and the left trigger the left (Q).
- Boost. Ascend (Space) is the bottom face button, quick boost (Shift) the right, and assault boost (Ctrl) the top. The left stick click toggles boost (Tab).
- Combat tools. Reload (R) is the left face button and target assist (middle click) the right stick click.
- D-pad. Up scans (V), down uses a repair kit (C), left is Assault Armor (Ctrl R), and right purges weapons (P). Escape is on Options.
Every weapon has its own finger, so an alpha strike is all four at once.
Tune it
- Aim. The game is about tracking. Raise the aim rows' Speed and try the Aggressive curve.
- A spare button. Create has nothing on it. Give it whatever you press most that the layout leaves out.
A fast aim with the Aggressive curve keeps a strafing target in the reticle.
If the stream passes your controller
On a Mac the easy path is the stream passing your pad to the game's own scheme. When it does, keep this preset off, or every press lands twice. Boost once with the preset off, because a mech that moves needs no layout.
If your controller is not working in Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon
When Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon does not react to your controller on a Mac, check these in order:
- Check that the Mac sees the controller. Open the gamepad tester and press a button. If nothing lights up there, the problem is the connection, and a controller that is connected but not working covers that first.
- Press a button after the stream has started. A stream only picks up a controller that is paired with the Mac, and a browser shows a controller to a page only after a button press. Start Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon, then press any button. Streaming from your own PC has its own checks, in how to stream PC games to a Mac with a controller.
- Play it from keys. If Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon still ignores the pad, activate this layout. It sends the keyboard and mouse controls Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon already reads. Turn the game's own controller option off while it runs, or a press can arrive twice. The layout works whether or not Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon ever sees the controller.
Get it in two clicks
- Open InputConfig and click Smart Preset Maker on the welcome screen.
- Search for Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon and pick it. The layout is created as a preset in your sidebar, named and ready.
- Press Activate. Every row can be changed afterwards: the editor's Scan button rebinds any control the moment you touch it.

Questions
Does Armored Core VI run on a Mac?
Armored Core VI does not run natively on a Mac. Stream it from a cloud service that carries it or a Windows PC.
Is Armored Core 6 better on controller or keyboard?
Either works on PC, and it comes down to taste. On a Mac, where it is a stream, a controller is the easy path: the stream normally passes it to the game's own scheme. This layout is for a pad the stream misses, and it keeps the keyboard binds with the four weapons on the four shoulder buttons.
Can I play Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon on an M1 Mac or a MacBook Air?
Yes, through a stream. Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon runs on the other end, on a cloud service or your own PC, so the Mac only plays the video and sends your input. An M1 MacBook Air streams it like any other Mac.
