Acorn from a game controller

Download on the Mac App StoreThe Acorn layout is built into InputConfig, free on the Mac App Store. You don't have to make an account, there are no subscriptions, and nothing is locked. Optimized for Apple silicon.

On a Mac: Acorn reads keys from this layout like a keyboard. Its brush, eraser and bracket keys follow the same letters as Photoshop.

Yes, Acorn works from a game controller on a Mac with the paint layout, because its brush, eraser and bracket keys follow Photoshop's letters. Brush and eraser, undo and redo, size on the bumpers and the picker on a held trigger all work as shipped.

The layout, control by control

Click a control. Labels:

Tune it

  • New layer. Put Acorn's key from its Layer menu behind a chord.
  • Selections. Set a lower Pointer speed on the preset's page.

Acorn's keys need no changes for this layout.

Get it in two clicks

  1. Open InputConfig and click Smart Preset Maker on the welcome screen.
  2. Search for Acorn and pick it. The layout is created as a preset in your sidebar, named and ready.
  3. Press Activate. Every row can be changed afterwards: the editor's Scan button rebinds any control the moment you touch it.
